Do You Have a Sense of “Knowingness?”


I am and always have been a sucker for drama films.  Especially, drama films with a sports theme.  I love how the protagonist in sports drama films always comes to a defining moment where they need to come to terms with their self image and they need to decide for themselves win or loose if they are a champion.  Many sports dramas force us to reflect and look inside to find our inner strength.

If you had the opportunity to sit next to him in a class you would have had access to glimpse the pages of his notebook which were filled with detailed drawings of scenes from his imagination. I felt strongly that the images he would conjure up should be made into a cartoon.

Kevin Powell is known most famously for his role as a cast member on MTV’s first season of “The Real World,” and as a notorious hip hop head.  However, he is more than just that.  Powell”s first important role in life was serving as man of the house in the absence of his father.  With a tenacious spirit and dedication to helping others, he moved up the ranks to become an international activist who recently ran  for Congressional Office in New York’s 10th District for the third time.  Through his life’s work of poetry, essays, and books, he highlights his dedication towards social, economic, and political, change in America.
